Virginia Refuses to List Dodd on Democratic Presidential Primary

The Virginia Board of Elections denied Chris Dodd’s appeal to be on the Democratic presidential primary ballot. His campaign had turned his signatures in to the Richmond City Hall, instead of to the office of the State Board of Elections, on the last day. His campaign had asked the State Board of Elections to overlook that error, but the State Board refused.

Virginia Refuses to List Dodd on Democratic Presidential Primary — 3 Comments

  1. What difference does it make? The Democratic nominee will be known long before Virginia’s primary anyway, and it’s not going to be a guy who’s currently duking it out with Kucinich and Gravel for last place.

  2. The State Board of Elections in Virginia gives specific instructions on how and where any filing or petition is to be completed and delivered. Any deviation is considered non-delivery. His campaign should have been well aware of that.

By the way, since the VA Governor is a Democrat, so is the head of the State Board of Elections.
