New York State Board of Elections Wants 3 Republicans Removed from Primary Ballot; New York City Board Rebels

On January 28, the New York State Board of Elections voted to remove Duncan Hunter, Fred Thompson, and Alan Keyes from the Republican presidential primary ballot. The stated reason is that Hunter and Thompson have withdrawn, and that Alan Keyes didn’t submit a slate of delegates.

However, many observers feel the real reason is to put Rudy Giuliani in a more favorable position on the Republican ballot. The candidates are listed in random order. Ron Paul won the drawing for top spot; Giuliani won the 4th spot. But if Hunter, Thompson and Keyes were removed, Giuliani would then be in the 2nd spot.

The New York City Board of Elections is refusing to alter the Republican ballot within New York city. It argues that the order of the State Board is invalid, because it argues that the State Board had no quorum. See this story for more details.

  1. One person called Nader “the nation’s conscience” and said it as if it was offensive for the Office of President, she said, “he doesn’t belong in office.” How absurd. And, the nation’s conscience is supposed to show at the ballot box. The nation’s cumulative vote is supposed to be a competitive merit based majority. It is ridiculous how people pigeonhole and try to minimize the true role of a President.

If they need just labels, (which Nader is especially against this year, as the best way to pre-empt the two party lies that any party stands for something irrespective of the facts–the candidate and the voter need to have a value match, not a label assumed value match)–However, for those who cannot manage that, I offer my own label for those people, “Mr. Safety”

Look at his track record. Even his voting activism to net a true democracy and preserve the constitution is a SAFETY action.

And, the role of President is to “lead” on policy and be able to make decisions and command respect. Safety is presumed wanted for the Government’s role, and “no nukes” is safety and wanted not just by a majority, but the world, at a majority level.

WAR IS A RACKET is a thesis Nader believes.

Safety is a remedy, of course.

  2. It might be that the Democrats who are pushing for the ballot to explicitly name electors rather than candidates and for the names of candidate who have already dropped out to remain on the ballots are completely within their rights.

But their actions are morally repugnant to me. Does anyone know the contact information for the organization that is doing this?

Is it individuals on the NY state Board of Elections?
