Nader Files Response Brief in His Lawsuit Against Democratic National Committee

Here is Ralph Nader’s response brief, in his lawsuit against the Democratic National Committee now pending in U.S. District Court in the District of Columbia. Nader is arguing that the case should not be dismissed on summary judgment, and that a trial is needed.

  1. Someone did an enormous amount of homework on this brief. I found it to be incredibly dense and almost impossible reading, and Nader’s briefs (including those filed on his behalf) are usually pretty clear and articulate. I wonder how much of a role he played in actually preparing the brief.

    A classic example of Nader’s style was the letter he sent to Ed Rendell regarding that judge who sputtered the now-famous “most fraudulent exercise ever perpetrated on this court” line. He used simple mathematics to make his argument for him and demonstrate the impossibility of the judge making a correct ruling. It was rather masterful, but of course politics, biases, and cronyism overruled the cold truth of simple numbers.
