Poll of Libertarian Convention Delegates — No Comments

  1. What was support for the other candidates and did they indicate second and third choices? The phone survey prior to the CP convention had Baldwin 2 to 1 over Keyes the vote was 3 to 1.

  2. When is the nominating session for president at the Libertarian Party convention and will it be on C-Span?

  3. The poll did ask about 2nd choice. Unfortunately I don’t know the standings for 1st choice vote other than the Bob Barr figure, and I don’t know the 2nd choice data.

The national Libertarian Party convention will vote for president on Sunday, May 25. It seems very likely it will be on C-SPAN, especially since it is on a Sunday.

  4. I was polled and I know two other delegates from NC who were. It was multiple choice with no mention of George Phillies but — brace yourself — one of the choices was Tucker Calson.

Who?!?!? Yes, a (former?) newscaster might make a bid for the nomination. I assume Mr. Carlson was paying for the poll.

  5. MIKE GRAVEL! hands down! he’s the reason why i switched party affiliations! barr and root don’t stand a chance, but a man like Gravel is someone we can all stand behind!

  6. I want Wayne Root. He is easily the most charismatic (he ran circles around Gravel on a debate on Fox), and doesn’t have the checkered past on social issues that Barr has. http://www.rootforamerica.com You will walk away saying, “Yes, yes, I love this guy!”

  7. WAYNE ALLYN ROOT WOULD MAKE AN OUTSTANDING NATIONAL CANDIDATE FOR THE LP, THE ONLY ONE WHO COULD FACE THE MAJOR PARTY NOMINEES WITHOUT BLINKING. ROOT IS A MAN OF PRINCIPLE AND UNMATCHED CHARISMA, ROOT KNOWS THE ISSUES AND SPEAKS THEM LOUD AND CLEAR BECAUSE HE SPEAKS THE TRUTH OF LIBERTARIANISM. ROOT IS BEHOLDEN TO NO ONE; THE ONLY LP CANDIDATE WHO IS NOT BOUGHT AND PAID FOR, ANCHORED DOWN BY PAST POLITICAL MISTAKES OR THE BAGGAGE OF A DEFLATED POLITICAL CAREER. WAKE UP LIBERTARIANS! ROOT FOR YOUR PARTY! ROOT FOR AMERICA!

  8. Mike Gravel????
I dont think he read the Libertarian party platform before he joined! You know the part about welfare, personal resposibility, and private property rights..”Government’s only role is to help individuals defend themselves from force and fraud.”–LP.org
    Mike Gravel….Wow….

  9. If memory serves me right, it was the LP’s first run presidential ticket in 1972 that made any historical difference. Dr. John Hospers and Toni Nathan received the only electoral college vote the party has ever received. They put the LP on the map. Since then, the party has been divided into factions and splinter groups to rival the major parties — and has thus repeatedly missed a myriad of opportunities to make gains nationally.
To castigate a candidate because they belonged to some other party before joining the LP is suspect. We are all immigrants to this political philosophy. I have seen and heard all the candidates vying for the LP nomination in Denver. Only one has consistently spoken out in interview and live television on the imperative issues clearly. Only one receives regular national exposure and speaks convincingly for LP positions. I’m convinced Wayne Allyn Root is far and away the best possible candidate, and the future of the LP. Judge for yourself, examine his stands on limited government, heritage of freedom, individual liberty and reason. http://root4america.com/
