Libertarian Party Nominated Wayne Allen Root for VP — No Comments

  1. Wow!

    Some convention.

I thought the Constitution Party convention was a dooozie….Now this. Whoooah Nelly!!

Impressive. Can the Green Party top this July 11th?

We’ve still got real political excitement in America! It’s in the Constitution, Libertarian, and Green Parties.

  2. I knew Mike Gravel had no chance at the Libertarian Party, not even as VP candidate. (He wasn’t nominated for VP either.)
He had no chance at the Democratic Party (mainly because he supported legalizing pot); he didn’t earn any delegates at all there.

  3. Gravel announced his ‘retirement’ in a convo with other delegates, so he probably didn’t feel like seeking the Vice Presidency. This isn’t 1972, he couldn’t nominate himself again.

Anybody know who the write-in vote was from New Mexico? I thought I heard “William Colon”, Greenpapers thought they heard William Cullen/Cohen, and we both heard something about being a secretary in either the LP or in the New Mexico LP.

Also, congrats to Penn Jillette for winning 3 votes from PA.

I’m sure fuller state-by-state results (ballots 2 through 6) can be figured out through either

    a) seeing the spreadsheet used at the convention
    b) going to the tapes and pausing frames when the screen showed the totals.

  4. Gravel also supported abolishing all income taxes in favor of a “fair” tax. That didn’t help him amongst liberals either, myself included. I actually support his position on legalizing pot though.

NOW, THAT IS THE KIND OF SOLIDARITY I LIKE TO SEE BY ALL WHO WANT TO SLAY THE TWO-HEADED MONSTER!

  6. Richard, Excellent Work!
Getting this information up as it happened is not only another great job of providing necessary information, but another example of your impossible-to-overvalue worth to all of us.
