False Alarm: Washington State Libertarian Has Opponent After All

According to the Washington Secretary of State’s webpage, the only candidate who filed for State Rep., 37th district, place 2, is Ruth Bennett of the Libertarian Party. The Secretary of State’s office is now closed, so it is impossible to verify for sure that the webpage is completely up-to-date. However, all day long, the office seems to have done a good job of posting candidates as they file. UPDATE: incumbent Eric Pettigrew’s name is now (as of 6 pm) listed on the webpage.

False Alarm: Washington State Libertarian Has Opponent After All — No Comments

  1. The website now shows Eric Pettigrew to have filed for that seat; it appears Ruth Bennett will not have an uncontested race after all.

  2. Odd, I could have sworn that at the LP convention after Ruth didn’t get elected LNC Chair (LP’s loss!) that she stated she was going to run for Governor?

  3. I’m glad she’s running in the 37th again, we never get anyone to vote for in this LD but Democrats and the occasional Republican. That would have been sweet for Bennet to be my legislators! Pettigrew is mostly just a place holder, a steady Dem vote. He does little else. I find it irksome when someone gets elected to a very very safe Left of Center district and then they just sit back and don’t use their safe seat to lead on controversial issues.

  4. Pettigrew is worthless. just a bum.
I’m not staying home next election day.
Time we got off our butts and take out
    the garbage.
vote libertarian for real and obvious change.

  5. Aren’t any of you tired of the same old lame excuse for failed government? Locally and nationally?

For the love of Pete, give Ruth a win for those who want to try a new direction. She is an outstanding representative of civil liberties with an eye for helping communities (she donates more hours to benefit others than anyone else I have ever met).
