Alabama is Only State with a Democratic-Republican Monopoly on the Ballot for All Non-Presidential Federal and State Office This Year

Every state in the United States will have some minor party or independent candidates on the ballot for some federal or state office this year (other than president), except Alabama. Also it is too early to tell about North Dakota, since independent candidate petitions aren’t due until September.

  1. Well, I think ND has technically four political parties that are ‘organized’. The Constitution and Libertarian parties both got organized (handed in 5,000 signatures).

Their is a glitch in state primary laws that might hurt both parties, but i have not heard anything about whether or not either party will even attempt to nominate candidates, other then president.

  2. I will be a write-in candidate for US Senate in Alabama. Alabama has no formal Declaration for Write-in Candidates, however, I made my own Write-in Declaration that I will deliver to the Secretary of State, letting her know my intentions to have all write-in votes counted.
