Missouri Repeals Campaign Contribution Limits

On July 10, Missouri Governor Matt Blunt signed SB 1038. It removes all limits on how much money an individual may contribution to a candidate for state office. The bill also says that if anyone gives $5,000 or more, that contribution must be reported within 48 hours. Thanks to Roy Lieberman for this news.

  1. This bill is just so outrageous. Missouri voters overwhelmingly passed a campaign contributions limit and it has gone thru the courts……challenged by you know who…..and now this.

And to add insult to injury, they placed an emergency clause on it making it effective the end of July…..just in time for the general election.

They should be ashamed of themselves.

  2. Shame and Jeff [erson] City? Good luck on that! As the future Ohio and FLorida style SWING VOTE [Kevin Costner movie on August 11th] state, is the Show Me region going to be a hot bed of questionable behavior? Is this just the dawn before the searing light of day?

  3. The First Amendment survives in MO.

Sorry for the usual suspects — speech, press, assemble and petition = time, energy and even $$$.

    See the book —

Sources of Our Liberties edited by Richard L. Perry (1959) about the background of the U.S.A. Bill of Rights.

How many DEATH lists are being created by leftwing / rightwing monsters of campaign donors – large and small ???

Would King George III in 1776 just loved to have known the names and addresses of the donors giving $$$ to persons campaigning in favor of the Declaration of Independence during any State elections in 1776-1783 ???

How many of the usual suspects would just love having a party hack TYRANT in control of the U.S.A. ??? — as long as the party hack TYRANT was a member of the *correct* party ???

I.E. some party hack killer monster like Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Saddam, etc. etc. ???
