This article appears in a Uganda newspaper dated July 13. The author happened to meet Daniel Imperato, who apparently still holds himself out as a candidate for president. The chance meeting intrigued the author, who then went on to learn about the other presidential candidates in the November election.

According to DC Political Report, Imperato has the Reform Party nomination. However, the Reform Party is so in shambles that it doesn’t appear to have an official web site. The Kansas affiliate lists Chuck Baldwin as the nominee. What’s going on?
The Reform Party has a national convention in Dallas July 18-20, although not every faction of the Reform Party recognizes that this is a legitimate national convention. That convention may or may not nominate a presidential candidate.
Here is a list of West Virginia newspapers that have sites online. Write a letter to the editor . People need to know he is running and is trying to get on the ballot in West Virginia.

Richard, I will be heading to Dallas that weekend representing NJ. I do not know who is up for president, but from what I’ve been told it looks like we will be nominating someone. I don’t know what they’ll do about Kansas. To be honest, if Kansas wants to be different then everyone let them. We all know the RFP isn’t going to win huge numbers for anybody they endorse in ’08 so to me it doesn’t matter too much. What matters that Kansas is represented at the convention and we can lay groundwork for something of the future. Also, it seems like to me only one tiny faction isn’t calling this the real deal… am I right on that? That faction doesn’t run candidates or endorse anybody it seems. Oh well… shall be a fun convention and no I have no clue how many people are going to show up.

Those who wrote the report you referred to are entirely wrong. I’ll have to see the item first, but I believe it to be a smear-by-misinformation.
At one time many months ago, Daniel Imperato was a guest on a phone-conference call with a number of RP’s leadership. He had expressed an interest in the RP nomination, but he was unknown to us. So, we listened to his pitch. In less than 60 seconds he infuriated those there assembled to hear him, and pegged himself as anything but a candidate to take seriously. We haven’t heard from him since that time, nor has anyone made mention of him again.
Known announced candidates are Frank McEnulty and Ted Weill.

Actually, we’ve been in a court fight with the FEC since early 2004. It was just concluded in February. They’re trying to back-bill us for repayment of public money we don’t really owe them. We even have a court decision at our disposal which demonstrated the correctness of our position about the disposition of the disputed sums, but sometimes facts don’t matter in courts.
The FEC wouldn’t discuss their “audit” with us when underway, but then later sent the bill based on their incomplete and inadequate findings. Since then, we also have been hit with an Injunction which limits our fund-raising out of the National Committee to repayment of their billed judgment.
All this is decidedly wrong, but is easily explained by the fact that we ended up with the Northern District of Florida as our venue – a terribly hostile place. The judge there rubber-stamped everything the FEC wanted and the decisions there were that of a kangaroo court setting.
As far as I’m concerned, the matter isn’t finished. Injustice is injustice no matter how you slice it.
