Green Party Will File Lawsuit to Get on Ohio Ballot

The Ohio Green Party will file a lawsuit in federal court in Columbus on August 26, asking that it be placed on the November ballot. Under the recent precedents putting the Libertarian and Socialist Parties on the ballot, the lawsuit is likely to succeed. If it does, this will be the first time the Green Party label will have been printed on any Ohio ballot.

  1. Are any other parties looking to follow this path? It would seem like any party with some kind of support/organization should be successful given these rulings.

  2. Yes, it would be outrageous if the Green Party was not listed on the ballot, considering that others have already been placed on.

  3. as an Ohioan, the only other party that would qualify even potentially given the ruling would be the natural law party which has been semi active in recent years, in 2006 they ran someone for sec of state, but that one guy is basically the head guy of the party, and i dont know if he’s kept the party running. also im not sure if the constitution party would qualify.

  4. Constitution will be on, Well..

Baldwin will be on in OH as “Other Party Candidate”.

Also, The Independent for Attorney General (Unexpired Term) is the Constitution Party’s Chair in Ohio.

  5. Bill,

What source do you have for that information? The only thing I see on the SoS’s website is regarding a Clymer/Baldwin ticket, which obviously isn’t the national party’s ticket.
