Louisiana Rejected Prohibition Electors Even Though They Were Filed August 29

The Prohibition Party filed its Louisiana presidential electors, and its filing fee of $500, well before the September 2 deadline. The party sent its paperwork Express Mail, and can prove that all the documents arrived at the Elections Division on August 29. However, even though the package was correctly addressed, it was misdelivered to another state agency. That other state agency, instead of forwarding the mail to the Elections Division, marked it “return to sender.” UPDATE: Louisiana now says it will put the Prohibition Party on the ballot.

  1. Wow, losing access in Louisiana and Mississippi the same day. A bad day for Gene Amondson. Do legal challenges in either state seem to be on the horizon?

  2. It is almost impossible for a third party to get a fair shake. The Democrats and Republicans always close ranks against third parties, and even judges are not immune to politics. Even when third parties do everything right, they are still often denied access; it is shameful.

  3. It’s too bad for the Prohibition Party. They seemed to be on the right track to get ballot access in about six states, and it seems that they’re not going to be much better off than they were four years ago.

Is it possible that the Dodge faction of the party had anything to do with this, or have those disputes been settled?

  4. From #3:

“…and even judges are not immune to politics.”

Judges are more corrupt than any of the other branches. Information reported to me says that Justice Stephen G. Breyer made a deal specifically to rule against ballot access cases in order to secure his seat on the Supreme Court.

It supposedly began with a case while he was a Federal Appeals Court judge in the early 1990s. He agreed to rule against the Libertarian Party in that case and against ballot access in all future cases as a favor to the Democrats. In return he got his appointment by Clinton.

  5. if you can bring the petitions to the proper election division in person that is best, don`t rely on the mail.We here in illinois have always delivered them in person for the constitution party even though we have driven hundreds of miles to do so.
