On October 9, the Associated Press released this interesting story on whether Bob Barr and/or Ralph Nader will get a boost because of Senator McCain’s vote in favor of the bailout for banks, and also because of McCain’s advocacy of government bailout for home mortgages. Thanks to IndependentPoliticalReport for the link.
There’s some interesting stuff in that article:
“Polls so far aren’t registering a shift to the Libertarian candidate in spite of widespread outrage over the $700 billion rescue package.”
And later…
“David Winston, a Washington-based Republican pollster, agreed and said many voters who initially opposed the bailout have come around to it after seeing the stock market drop and the financial crisis spread globally.”
Ok, so Bob’s not taking off because voters “have come around to it [the bailout]”
It’s only by keeping Barr out of the debates that he is kept from being heard and gaining support.
But I guess if you pretend that people know about Bob Barr, you can also pretend that they love the bailout now.
I think you mean October 9.
Are you characters supporting Barr and Nader because they are lawyers, if so you are more xxxxxxxxx than the public who support individuals like O’Slama, another xxxxxxx lawyer? You fill in the x’s!
Mr. Applegate, I am going to bote for Ralph Nader because he is the ONLY candidate for president who is addressing the actual ills that have lead to this economic and environmental disaster, and he is the only one with viable answers as far as what to do in the face of all this.
Whether you, Mr. Apllegate, support the Democrat or Republican candidate is just a sad footnote at the end of the “old days” of economics and politics.
Hopefully, people here will pay petitioners to continue circulating ballot access petitions in Alabama, so that the 2010 and 2012 third party candidates can get on in time to run serious campaigns. You can contribute to this effort online here: http://www.freedomballotaccess.org
Thanks!
