Virginia to Let Voters at Polls Wear Campaign Buttons

Both houses of the Virginia legislature have passed bills that say voters at the polls may wear clothing that supports a party or a candidate, such as a T-shirt or a hat. The bills also permit wearing buttons that indicate support for a candidate or a party. SB 867 passed the Senate on February 9, and HB 1610 (incorporated into HB 1878) passed the House on February 5.

  1. Politicians apparently have little to no regard for the intelligence of voters.
Perhaps there is good reason, since, after all, those same voters did vote to put those same politicians into office.
But if the politicians honestly believe someone standing in line at a polling booth could be swayed by another person’s pin or shirt, then the politicians ought to reconsider their calling … or work harder to disenfranchise everybody.

  2. I know that in New Mexico, t-shirts and buttons are allowed (only signs and literature are banned)…but that doesn’t stop the State minions from misapplying the law anyway and arresting voters standing in line to vote. I should know; it happened to me.

I’ve been to numerous Libertarian Party conventions where voters (delegates) are wearing ALL KINDS of things while milling around and buzzing around while the vote is taking place. To my knowledge, no one has complained about it at all, and I’ve been to a dozen conventions.

  3. Any New Age buttons saying —

Vote for incumbent ABC — or D-I-E ???

Is this the New Age of TOTAL EVIL in governments or what ???
