Independent Political Report, Green Party Watch, Both Are Now Over One Year Old

Two leading blogs that cover minor parties just had their one-year anniversaries. Independent Political Report had its first post on May 20, 2008, and Green Party Watch had its first post on May 21, 2008.

Before those blogs existed, Third Party Watch covered minor party and independent candidate news. Third Party Watch was founded by Austin Cassidy. After some years, Stephen Gordon bought the site. Then, he sold it to Richard Viguerie, who seemed to lose interest in it, and it is now dormant.

  1. Donald – I think we do a good job of that now. I try to cover everyone but Libertarians and the Constitution Party most of the time, because I feel they get disproportionate coverage.

    And thanks for this Richard.

  2. Ross, it is/ was coverage and more. It is/ was flavor! It is subsiding, but the attitude of may Lib posters is that it is a de facto Libertarian Watch site.

Lots of Libs [but it has gotten more fair] consider ‘reformers’ as not Reform Party folks but Libertarian reformers. Other Lib/ Bible thumping/ Conservative activist[s] display/ displayed similar attitude on the inside, informal ‘truths’ of the site.

Again, it has gotten better, but like Cody Quirk, truth tellers can not be subtle on these agents provocateur! Ya gotta slap these suckers down or they consider neglect of polite responses as a ‘go ahead’ signal!

  3. Ballot Access News is one of the primary sources of third party news, has been for years. We all owe a debt of gratitude to Richard’s work here. (Sharing the love!)

Independent Political Report is an awesome news site. It does have “fair and balanced” third party coverage in its posts, however most of the comments appear to be from Libertarians. Greens just seem a little shy I guess! Either that or we Greens spend so much time ripping on each other on e-mail lists we don’t have the energy left for comments on blogs and websites.

The important thing is that there are solid sites that provide third party news and the ability to comment and engage in dialogue online.

  4. No surprise with “Third Party Watch”: Both Austin Cassidy and Richard Viguerie are Republicans. I don’t know anything about Stephen Gordon, however.

The Republican Party will be a minor-sized party by the year of 2012. Perhaps, then, Mr. Cassidy and Mr. Viguerie will feel a lot more empathy toward “minor party” and/or independent candidates.

Thanks for the warning about “Third Party Watch” being a computer attack site, “Third Party Revolution.” Fortunately, I stopped going to that site a long time ago – after I decided that it was nothing more than a gathering place for bourgeois conservatives (i.e., members of the Constitution Party; the Libertarian Party; the Republican Party; and so forth) who like to trade insults and attack progressive people.

  5. Holy Crap! I just got my writing priviledges restored on TPW!

The website doesn’t seem to have any viruses on it, so I am going to try reporting TP news on it once again.

  6. Holy Crap! Ronnie Poo, it is not shyness, it is Lib/ Bible Thumping, Conservative bullying. Stephen Gordon was one of the principals to get BobBarr08 on the Lib ballot in Denver and was rewarded with a campaign job after wards [as the owner of (so called) Third Party Watch].

Again, it was not ONLY the quantity of Conservative Posting, but the ‘It’s Our Site’ attitude of said blog!

Cody never reported TP news, it was always slanted conservative stuff!
