Congressional Bill to Use Express Mail for Military Overseas Absentees

Congressman Erik Paulsen (R-Minnesota) introduced HR 2393 on May 19. It provides that absentee ballots sent to overseas members of the military should use Express Mail. Most U.S. military bases around the world receive an ordinary piece of Express Mail in four days, although there are exceptions, particularly for personnel serving in submarines and sometimes in ships, and for those on land, serving in very remote areas.

  1. How about having birds and whales (or even NASA rocket ships) deliver the snail mail to those remote troopers ???

  2. Texas voters on space flights can vote electronically.

Also in Texas, ballots can be sent to overseas members of the military and their dependents by e-mail.

Congress should establish polling places in embassies, consulates, and overseas military bases. State election officials could send a ballot by internet, have the overseas ballot center print the ballot, verify the overseas voter, and send the completed ballots back to the US by courier.
