Nevada SB 212, a bill that would require statewide initiative petitions to get a substantial number of signatures from every one of Nevada’s 42 Assembly districts, is probably dead. It has not moved. It had been set for a hearing in the Senate Finance Committee on May 27, but that hearing was cancelled. The legislature adjourns on June 1.

The bill number for this is actually SB 212. No hearing is scheduled for today, and the bill is very likely dead. SB 162, according to the state website, “Revises the date of the primary election and provisions governing voter registration by mail.” That bill was enrolled on May 22.
Another bill dealing with the initiative process, AJR 1, would amend the constitution to require petition signatures be distributed by congressional district, replacing language struck down by the Ninth Circuit in ACLU v. Lomax. That bill is not moving, but could be brought up at the last minute of the session.
