National Popular Vote Organization Works to Get Its Bill Introduced in All 50 States

Adherents of the National Popular Vote Plan have hired a lobbyist, in order to get the plan introduced in the Idaho legislature early next year. See this story. Assuming such a bill is introduced, the Plan will have been introduced in the legislatures of all 50 states over the last four years. The bill is law in Washington, New Jersey, Maryland, Illinois and Hawaii, but of course it doesn’t go into effect in any state until enough states have signed up.

  1. And it gets past the approval of the gerrymander Congress.

And it gets past the Equal Protection Clause and the Supremes.

Abolish the timebomb Electoral College – went off in 1860 — 620,000 DEAD in 1861-1865.

    Almost went off again in 1876, 1960, 1968, 1992, 2000.

Civil W-A-R-S are NOT good — except for the EVIL top MONSTERS involved.

  2. I like the Electoral college and believe it to be a more perfect system than NPV.

  3. A survey of 800 Idaho voters conducted on May 5–6, 2009 showed 77% overall support for the idea that the President of the United States should be the candidate who receives the most popular votes in all 50 states.

Voters were asked “How do you think we should elect the President: Should it be the candidate who gets the most votes in all 50 states, or the current Electoral College system?”

By political affiliation, support for a national popular vote was 79% among Republicans, 85% among Democrats, and 74% among others. By gender, support was 86% among women and 76% among men. By age, support was 83% among 18-29 year olds, 84% among 30-45 year olds, 84% among 46-65 year olds, and 77% for those older than 65.

  4. The EVIL minority rule Electoral College and the EVIL minority rule Senate hang on due to the EVIL deal between the small State regimes and the slave State regimes in the top secret 1787 Convention.

About 30 percent minority rule in the E.C.
About 12 percent minority rule in the Senate – due to many very small States.

Slavery wiped out the very hard way in 1861-1865 via about 350,000 Union DEAD (due to many MORON Union generals) — getting the 13th Amdt in Dec. 1865.

Senate and E.C. hang on and on and on.

What REAL Democracy person will get on TV and DEMAND that REAL Democracy comes to the U.S.A. ???

Attention MORONS — the Bill of Rights continues even with real majority rule in the gerrymander Congress.

  5. 2 –

I believe in the tooth fairy. Perhaps we can convince her to select our president. I think that would be a more perfect system than the Electoral College.

I believe in the tooth fairy. Perhaps we can convince her to select our president. I think that would be a more perfect system than the Electoral College. She always got it right – a dime for every lost tooth. Each and every time. That’s a much better record than the Electoral College.

3 – I have my doubts about those poll results. I don’t think there are actually 800 registered voters in Idaho. But they get 4 Electoral College votes anyway.

    Go figure, huh?

  7. #3 How did the pollster determine whether the persons who answered the phone were “Idaho voters”?

  8. 7 –

Would it make you happier if the poll results were “77% of the people who picked up a phone in the Idaho area code” said they support the National Popular Vote plan over the Electoral College?

    What silly nitpicking.

  9. 9 – Well, lemme see…maybe because she hasn’t come back yet?

Oh wait – I know, I know!!! You’ve caught her in a bald-faced lie, haven’t you, you crafty fellow!

But since you’re not answering questions, why should anyone else?

    Never mind…no need to answer.

  10. Back in 2007 Idaho was the first State to pass a bill agianst the North American Union. Montana is the only other State so for. I expect this move to do away with the Electoral College is a plan to undermind the Republic the Founding fathers gave us.

Yes, America is a Republic, not a Democracy.Might be hard to belive for some of you.

Undermind the Republic, by making it easier for America’s election laws to be harmonized with other nations of the North American Union, Canada and Mexico.

  11. Idaho K. –

    Close, but not quite.

We are indeed a republic. We do not have a monarch, but rather a president. But we are also a democracy.

The two are not mutually exclusive.

  12. 9. mvymvy is a computerized response. Nothing more than just a statistical rhetoric machine.

  13. 7 & 14 –

First question the polling methods, then accuse the poster of being a robot.

Don’t worry about the facts, though.

    Typical. And pathetic.
