Ventura County Star Article Explains Details of California Redistricting Panel Selection

The December 9 issue of The Ventura County Star has this interesting article on how ordinary citizens may apply to be on California’s redistricting commission. That body will draw the boundaries for legislative districts, after the 2010 census. Thanks to ElectionLawBlog for the link.

  1. The New Age gerrymander commission in CA will do ZERO about the gerrymander math —

    half the votes in half the gerrymander districts = about 25 percent ANTI-Democracy minority rule — by the EVIL party hacks.

    REAL minority rule is much, much, much worse due to the party hacks in the primaries picking extremist party hack nominees — who pander to the left / right extremists in such primaries.

  2. Yes. In fact 4 of the commissioners must be people who aren’t registered Democrats and aren’t registered Republicans.
