Useful and Fun Site for Redistricting

The webpage www.redistrictingthenation.com is an excellent resource for people interested in congressional, legislative, and even local districts. One can type in an address and see each type of district for that address. The webpage also measures the compactness, on objective mathematical grounds, for any district in the nation. Also a feature lets visitors try their hand at creating new districts. Thanks to PoliticalWire for the link.

  1. A total EVIL website trying to be New Age cute.

Half the votes in half the gerrymander districts (political concentration camps) = about 25 percent MINORITY RULE in ALL major regimes in the U.S.A. — much worse in the gerrymander U.S.A. Senate due to many small States.

THE BIG LIE (aka secret in the closet, etc.) since Day 1 in 1776.

The EVIL bad old days in 1776-1964 had EVIL worse gerrymanders — i.e. most of American history.

P.R. (with rectagular / square districts for ballot access) and A.V. NOW.

  2. The best part about it is that it gives the details of how the particular legislative body is dealing with redistricting.

I wonder, though, how they deal with natural reasons (such as a coastline) for the funny shape when using the methods that compare a district with a circle or polygon.

For example, Ross Mirkarimi’s district borders Golden Gate Park, which makes a big dent in its shape.

Still, at least the site provides a map so that you can see if that’s the case.

  3. Interesting. I went to Connecticut on the map, and no matter which district I selected, I got a popup that says “This district always votes for a self-absorbed, publicity hound buttwipe with white hair and excessive jowels and who sleeps with Republicans.”
