Poll Shows British Greens Likely to Win their First Seat in House of Commons

This article, and the poll data it describes, suggests that the Green Party of Great Britain is likely to elect its first member to the House of Commons, at the next election. As the story says, Britain is the only major central or western European nation that has never had a Green in its national legislature.

  1. I hope that UKIP is able to elect at least a few MP’s in the coming election. It would be nice if more polls could be conducted to see how Nigel Farage is doing against the fascist, Mr. Bercow.

The Greens should look at the weather and they will soon realize that Kent has 3 feet of SNOW!!!! Global warming my ass. They are nothing more than charlatans that can’t even convince a single Lordship to defect to the Greens in the House of Lords. Not to mention, they only have 2 MEP’s in Europe. UKIP has 13! ahahaha

  2. The U.K. House of Commons is THE original evil gerrymander regime in Western Civilization — formed in the late 1200s in ye olde England in the Dark Age — to have some alleged representation for the COMMON folks at a time of the EVIL feudal monarchs / oligarchs (earls, barons, dukes, etc.) running England.

The gerrymander / plurality winner indirect minority rule ROT was carried over to the new English colonies in the early 1600s — VA, MA, etc. — and then carried into the 4 July 1776 regimes — and then into the 1789 U.S.A. regime — the EVIL 3 gerrymander systems – U.S.A. House of Reps., U.S.A. Senate (semi- permanent) and the U.S.A. Electoral College.

Result – the pending total crash of Western Civilization — due to the ANTI-Democracy EVIL powermad gerrymander powermad party hacks in the U.S.A., the U.K., Canada, etc. — mainly in ONE party safe seat gerrymander districts.

P.R. and A.V. NOW — before the gerrymander MONSTERS cause World War III and/or Civil WAR II.

  3. The Greens are targeting three seats where they have built up a sizable number of local authority councilors. This shows it is theoretically possible for a minor party to win in a first-past-the post system. There are big differences between the US and the UK of course. Like Canada, the UK isn’t really a duopoly, the parliamentary constituencies are more numerous and smaller then congressional districts, the cost of campaigning is much less.

Regarding global warming and the UK blizzard, the climate modeling evidence suggests that the lessening of the differences in temperature between the equator and the poles would result in a weakening of the Gulf Stream and other deep ocean currents, leading to the cooling of areas like the UK. The Gulf Stream brings warm tropical water to the shores of the UK, making its local climate more tolerable than the similarly situated Labrador. The science has been out there for a while. I did a Science Fair project on this very topic in 1987. Anyway, these are long term trends and climate isn’t the same as weather, short attention spans notwithstanding.

  4. UKIP lost well over £100,000 in £500 per seat deposits in the last general election, and have always had a strong showing in the European Elections. When it comes back to National Politics, UKIP is still weak. Same for the Greens, they get seats in Euro elections, Scottish Parliament etc, but not so strong in national elections.

Demo Rep’s rant might in one way be true, but we have more than two political parties represented in our Parliament, our country is not politically stagnant with the same people winning again and again, and doesn’t have laws crippling third party and independents from standing.

  5. Pluralities Bad: House of Common seats are plurality win constituency seats. The De-evolved legislative bodies and the European Parliament have seats which are PR, but it varies for each.

There are no runoff elections at any level, although many European nations do (French Presidential etc).

  6. The biggest difference is use of proportional representation in all other nations in Europe except France, where at least they have majority runoffs.

  7. # 9 France with its various leftwing / rightwing extremist regimes is about as rotted as the U.S.A. with its minority rule gerrymanders.

The REAL minority rule ROT in the U.K. House of Commons is about 20-22 percent due to the 3-5 larger party hack candidates in each gerrymander district — same type of ROT in Canada for the same reason — lots and lots of plurality winners — claiming 100 percent of the district representation in their delusional EVIL brains.

U.S.A. ROT — about 30 percent (U.S.A. House of Reps and ALL 99 State legislature houses – 1 house only in NE) — about 10 percent in the U.S.A. gerrymander Senate.

REAL Rot is much worse due to primary election math — due to having about 97 percent of all gerrymander districts being *safe seats* for the Donkey or Elephant gang involved.

Result — the EVIL arrogance of the EVIL party hacks — especially now in the EVIL U.S.A. House of Reps. — esp. in the brain of the party hack Speaker — whoever he or she is.

GET REAL folks — the U.S.A. is NOT *democratic* — but controlled by EVIL leftwing / rightwing gerrymander oligarchs with their EVIL control freak agendas.

    P.R. and A.V.
