  2. The English House of Commons has been the endless source of minority rule gerrymander EVIL since the 1200s — i.e. the AREA fixation for false representation — regardless of the UNEQUAL votes for each plurality winner in each area or the total number of votes in each area.

Half the votes in half the gerrymander areas = about 25 percent MINORITY RULE — even worse in the U.K. due to multiple larger parties.

P.R. and A.V. — end the minority rule gerrymander stuff going on for 700 plus years.

  3. But I thought it was more signatures and fees to register the political party with the UK?

  4. You don’t require signatures to register a political party here in the UK*, just a nominal fee of £250, and I think it is £20-25 every year thereafter.

    * But you do have to list at least two, preferably three individuals as officials for Leader, Treasurer and Nominating Officer.

  6. #4 Until fairly recently, British ballots did not carry party designations. When they were added, there might be conflicts as to who had the right to use a party name, and there were some names that were considered to be confusing such as “Literal Democrats”

As part of a party registration, the party designates a nominating officer. When a candidate files to be on the ballot, his application is signed by the party officer to authorize the candidate to use the party name, descriptions, and symbols on the ballot.

There are currently 413 registered parties in the UK. Some are obviously local parties for running candidates in local elections, but they are eligible to authorize candidates for Parliament. It costs 25 pounds to maintain a party registration annually, and another 25 pounds if you want to change part of the registration.

Incidentally, the Scottish Green Party is distinct from [The] Green Party and the Green Party. The Scottish Green Party is recognized for Scotland; [The] Green Party is recognized for England and Wales; and the Green Party is recognized for Northern Ireland.

A party may designate which of England, Scotland, and Wales is registered in. There is a separate registry for Northern Ireland, but a party may register in both the Great Britain and the Northern Ireland registries. Labour, Conservatives, and Liberal Democrats are registered in England, Scotland, and Wales. The Conservatives are also register on the Northern Island registry. Plaid Cymru is registered in Wales only, and the Scottish National Party is registered in Scotland only. The Green parties are legally distinct between England&Wales and Scotland and Northern Ireland.

  7. Equal nominating petitions — to reduce the number of CRAZIES on the ballots – as in the U.K.

P.R. and A.V. — NO party hack nominations by the EVIL party hack leaders.

  8. I’m with the Liberal Democrats. Not socialist like Labour, but liberal. The UK Green Party is shooting the left of center in the foot. There are already two parties to choose from.
