3rd partisans and Independents in Georgia should “bombard” this website demanding that reforms be made either by allowing 3rd party or independent candidates to either pay a filing fee similar to what Democrats and Republicans pay, or collect signatures of no more than 1/10 of 1% of the vote for Governor in the state, district,etc. for ballot position.
And I’m sure many 3rd partisns and independents will. But I’m not holding my breath. This so-called “Advisory Council” takes their “marching orders” from the Democrats and Republicans. They’re not going to give 3rd partisans and independents much more than “crumbs.”
A similar body in Florida in 1998 listened to people and then agreed to put into a proposed constitutional amendment the idea that ballot access should be equal for all candidates. The people then voted for it in November 1998 (65%) and that is why ballot access in Florida no longer requires mandatory petitions (except independent presidential candidates still need a big petition).
So no one should assume it is useless to communicate with the Georgia Advisory Council.
