Ohio Legislature Mulls Over a Bill to Have State Office Primaries in March, and Federal Office Primaries in May

According to this story, the Ohio legislature is considering the idea of having primaries for state and local office, in 2012, in March; and having the presidential primary and congressional primaries in May. Thanks to Josh Putnam of Frontloading HQ for the link.

I fail to see how that would change the constitutionality of their unreasonably early dates to qualify a new party.

#3, you’re right, it wouldn’t fix the minor party petition deadline problem at all. The bill exists for motivations that have nothing to do with minor party ballot access. The motivations concern redistricting.
