Politico Story Says Americans Elect Delays its own Nomination Process — No Comments

  1. @3 The All Party System (and independents) has been going since 1995 (Google actually derived from my name in 1997 because of the US Parliament in Usenet).

The story is on my personal campaign web page:
    http://www.usparliament.org/google2012.php

Americans Elect is sort of trying to copy us, and though they have what appears to be unlimited money which I’ve never had, they will probably be highly dysfunctional.

Cathy Stewart of the Queens NY Independent Party that is associated with those who financed the AE, and who also helped Bloomberg get elected, is on my email list and I’ve talked to her enough times to know that on one hand they are highly dysfunctional, but on the other hand they’re trying to copy the “virtual parliament’s” ideas.

But I wouldn’t worry too much about the AE in 2012.

I think Roseanne Barr [Green Tea] is the haps, and she’s on our email list/team as well.

We’re twenty US presidential candidates, working as a team. We’re doing pretty well.

This is Ballot Access News, and I’m posting on any article I wish, if you don’t object. I don’t believe asking someone why they’re posting on any article is relevant. My post is relevant. Mine is about elections.

It’s people who criticize the relevance that cause me to explain more, which I don’t mind at all.

    Thanks for asking.

  2. The Politico article is literally true but misleading because it’s out of date.

Under the original AE rules dated December 2011, the first round of voting was scheduled for April 17, April 24, and May 8, and candidates would have to meet the minimum supporter requirements by April 3.

However, AE didn’t open the part of their web site to allow people to support candidates until January 31, and the pace of garnering supporters wouldn’t have allowed any candidate to qualify by April 3.

Thus, in February, the AE Rules Committee announced that it would adopt amendments to delay the first round of voting until May 8, 15, and 22, and let candidates meet the minimum supporter requirements as late as May 14 (and still get on the last ballot of the first round). The AE Board approved the new rules on March 5.

Thus, it’s true that AE decided to “delay voting from beginning this month to May.” However, they announced plans to do so two months ago and formally approved those plans a month ago — it didn’t happen just recently.

  3. However, I don’t think Khalil Byrd’s statement that the AE “board and the delegates made the decision” to delay the vote is literally accurate — as far as I know, AE delegates in general were not involved in the decision.
