Oregon Libertarian Party Plans to Nominate by Private Primary

According to this story, the Oregon Libertarian Party expects to nominate candidates for public office this year by privately-financed mail balloting. The party may have got this idea from the Independent Party, another ballot-qualified Oregon minor party that has been nominating that way for several years now.

  1. How many clubby groups have snail mail ballots ???

How many tons of snail mail ballots in govt elections in Oregon ???

  2. The Independent Party of Oregon (IPO) in 2010 nominated over 60 candidates for various offices by conducting an online primary election, administered by Everyone Counts. It was not mail balloting.

IPO in November 2011 conducted a primary election to nominate a candidate to run in the January 2012 special election to fill the seat in Congress vacated by David Wu. Each IPO member went to our website to complete the ballot, which the member was then required to mail, fax, or email to us with specified personal identification documents. We received most of those ballots by mail, although we had expected to receive most by fax.
