European Court of Human Rights Issues Ruling on British Ban on Prisoner Voting

On May 22, the European Court of Human Rights issued a new opinion on whether Great Britain is in violation of that Court’s 2005 ruling which said adult citizens who are in prison must be allowed to vote. See this story. The new ruling acknowledges that European nations who have agreed to obey the court’s rulings do have wide discretion on how to implement that court’s rulings. Nevertheless, it appears the Court will not back down on its earlier basic ruling. Thanks to Thomas Jones for the link.

  1. It is probably a measure to keep Irish freedom fighters from voting. Too bad the law suit didn’t happen in time to help the heroes of Block H, Longkesh Prison.

  2. What the hell is an Irish Freedom Fighter? The IRA was a terrorist organisation simple as that. Do not think murdering and setting off bombs gets these evil scum any nearer to a 32 county Ireland. Sinn Fein were wise enough to wake upto the idea that they would never defeat the might of the British military. They have now turned their back on violence and sit in the Northern Ireland Assembly. Indeed Martin McGuinness is now Her Majestys Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland.

  3. Hmmm. Were the folks in the U.S.A. Army and State Militias all terrorists in 1775-1783 — according to the King George III Brit regime ???

How many dead/injured bodies and destroyed property does it take to cause the powers that be to act peacefully ???

noting that in WW II it took MAJOR force to wipe out the EVIL Axis Powers monarchy regimes (Hitler, Hirohito, Mussolini) — mass death and destruction — with the resulting current chaos.
