Arkansas Democratic Nominee for U.S. House, 3rd District, Withdraws; Race is Now Between Republican, Green, and Libertarian

On July 9, Ken Aden, the Democratic nominee for U.S. House, Arkansas 3rd district, withdrew. As a result, the November ballot will contain three candidates: Republican incumbent Steve Womack, Green nominee Rebekah Kennedy, and Libertarian nominee David Pangrac. See this story, which does not mention Pangrac but which ought to do so. The 3rd district is the northwest corner of the state.

  1. I’m supporting the Libertarian….I’m tired of RINO. Thanks for the update.

  2. A well funded Libertarian campaign with a well known candidate might stand a chance in this district, but with two third party candidates and Rebekah Kennedy having some notability as being the only opposition canidate during the 2008 Senate election (she got 20.47% of the vote) a Republican victory is all but assured. Republicans have held the district since 1967 and in the last election won with 72.44 percent of the vote. Thus a the Libertarian would have to take away some 45% of the vote from the republican candidate to even have a chance at winning (republicans are unlikely to defect to a Green Party candidate). The Green party candidate is unlikely to do better than 27% percent at best, and will likely do much worse since registered democrats will likely be split between the two third party candidates

  3. I made a typo in the above, the libertarian would have to get take 37% of the votes (from those who usually vote republican) in the election to win.~~~~
