  1. That’s terrible. I have ZERO knowledge of the Iowa situation, but I would have to say that it doesn’t seem like the LP could pull off a legitimate convention with 250+ attendees in Iowa. The real problem, of course, is that the requirement is ridiculous.

  2. Why the hell didn’t they just collect the signatures? Iowa has one of the lowest petition requirements in the entire country!

  3. Gotcha, saw the earlier post after I posted this reply.

Seems like this whole thing was totally botched. Couldn’t they have used a stand-in for the petition who lived in Iowa and who they’d have ready access to?

I saw Gary Johnson on CNBC earlier telling the anchors that he would be the only minor party candidate on in all 50 states. I’m not sure how long he’ll be able to continue saying that at this rate, considering the LP is now likely to lose Pennsylvania. Oklahoma seems anything but certain. New Hampshire is still questionable. And now Iowa.

  4. I have a question. Which are the states that Americans Elect was able to make it on the ballot?

  5. #6, look at the June 1 2012 printed Ballot Access News, petitioning chart. Links to past print issues are at the top right-hand side of the page.

  6. #5, there is no problem in New Hampshire. The town clerks have already determined that the Libertarian petition has more than enough signatures. And I am optimistic about Iowa and Pennsylvania.

  7. Richard do you think the OK AE group giving Johnson their ballot line will hold up?

Like you I am optimistic for IA and PA (especially IA). I do have this lingering fear that something might go wrong with PA though.
