The only independent candidate who tried to get on the Wyoming ballot for President this year was Jill Stein. However, the Secretary of State has determined that she didn’t have enough valid signatures. Wyoming requires a petition of 2% of the last Congressional vote, which is tied for being the second-highest presidential petition requirement in the nation. Only Oklahoma has a higher percentage for President, when the easier of both methods (party and independent) for each state are compared.
An independent candidate for U.S. House also tried to get on the Wyoming ballot this year, but his petition was also found invalid.
That’s really to bad. Wyoming wouldn’t garner much votes but still. It’s to bad for the Stein campaign and for the people of Wyoming who have 1 less option on the ballot to choose from. I wish Wyoming would loosen their ballot access laws. For such a small state population wise they sure demand a lot to get on.
If the LP fails to get on the ballot in PA, I can see an opportunity for Greens and Libertarians to vote swap between the two states.
#2, even if Gary Johnson fails to get on the ballot in Pennsylvania, most Pennsylvania counties (but not all) count write-ins. In 2008 the Pennsylvania Department of State made a tally of the write-ins reported to it for Chuck Baldwin, and so those votes were included in the national Baldwin total. It is likely Gary Johnson write-ins would get the same treatment. The Pennsylvania Department of State has utterly arbitrary standards for deciding which write-ins to tally. In 2008 that office did not tally the write-ins for Cynthia McKinney.
I strongly doubt my county (Jefferson) will count write-ins. Or should I say: I don’t trust them to. If Gov. Johnson isn’t on the ballot (grrr!), I’ll vote for Jill Stein. And straight Democrat for everything else.

#6, either the statewide Libertarian petition is valid and or it isn’t. If it isn’t, none of the statewide Libertarian nominees will be on.
@7 for the Arkansas one I am letting you in on some info I saw on the Internet, Fred Smith is the former democratic state representative, he was booted off the ballot.
Wyoming also disqualifies petition signatures from registered voters who miss one general election, and they don’t bother to let people who are doing petition drives know that they do this (as in the people conducting the petition drives are expected to find this out on their own).
