Jill Stein Campaign Describes Process of FEC Audit

Every presidential campaign, major and minor, that receives public funding from the Federal Election Commission must later undergo an audit by the FEC. Jill Stein’s campaign has this brief description of the process, which is underway now. FEC employees are apparently spending five weeks in Madison, Wisconsin, at the Stein campaign headquarters.

  2. Upon reading the Stein campaign’s description, I was rather ticked (but ultimately not surprised) that the Obama and Romney campaigns aren’t being subjected to an audit because they chose to stay out of the program which mandates it. Not only does this make both Jill Stein and Gary Johnson look WAY more honest by comparison, it also makes a person wonder what exactly Obama and Romney are trying to hide-besides the obvious millions in corporate funding, of course.

  3. This is must be a fake article. There is no way the FEC is actually doing any work.

  4. #3, always distinguish between the hard-working employees of the FEC, and the FEC commissioners. The employees are about to publish “Elections 2012”, a book of election results for all federal office that is more accurate and useful than the other book of election returns published by the federal government. That other book will be published by the Clerk of the US House of Representatives and will be called “Statistics of the Presidential and Congressional Election of 2012.”

  5. I agree with Ms. Stein that the process is burdensome, and skewed to favor the Beltway parties. All the more reason to get the central government out of campaign finance entirely.

  6. I agree with @2, this makes Stein and Johnson look really honest, open, and transparent. Hmm I wonder where I’ve heard those three words before. >.>

  7. How many zillion dollars added to the national debt to pay for the FEC audits of the various Prez candidates — i.e. more LOOT for the FEC bureaucrats ???

  8. #4 Richard: I wonder why the Federal government bothers to publish two different books of election returns.
