Utah Republican Party Web Page Tells Viewers Party Affiliation of Elected City Officials

Almost all city elections in Utah are non-partisan. However, the Utah Republican Party’s web page recently put up data revealing the party registration of all Utah city elected officials. See this story. At first the web page listed every official. Later the page was revised to list only the elected city officials who are registered Republicans. Democrats have criticized the Republican Party for posting this information. However, the party affiliation of any individual voter in Utah is a public record.

  1. Hmmm. More PURGE lists ???

    P.R. and nonpartisan App.V.

NO party hack public registration lists.

The HACKS can have their own clubby meetings and mail ballots.

  2. Most people who registered Republican don’t often belong to the party they registered in. This could bite the Republican party if one of those candidates was a Democrat registered as a Republican.

  3. interesting. My gut reaction is that nonpartisan elections should strictly be that – NONpartisan. Ppl should vote on principles and not just tow the party line w/ nonpartisan elections.
