Oregon has released new registration data, reflecting the August 15 totals. Compared with the tally of June 15, the Working Families Party has increased its registration 27%, and now has .40% of the state’s registered voters. This makes it the largest Working Families Party in the nation. Previously, the New York Working Families Party was the largest. The last New York registration tally was as of April 1, 2013, and the Working Families Party of New York had .38% in that tally, the same as it had in the November 2012 New York tally.
The full Oregon results for the new tally are: Democratic 39.15%, Republican 30.80%, independent voters 22.73%, Independent Party 4.48%, Libertarian .72%, Green .480%, Working Families .40%, Constitution .15%, Progressive .088%, Americans Elect .0061%, non-qualified parties .99%.
The percentages in June 2013 were: Democratic 39.30%, Republican 30.90%, independent voters 22.61%, Independent Party 4.44%, Libertarian .71%, Green .483%, Working Families .31%, Constitution .16%, Progressive .087%, Americans Elect .0057%, non-qualified parties 1.00%.
Americans Elect is very tiny but increased its registration in the last two months from 123 to 133. Thanks to Michael for the link.
Holy smokes that’s a big jump. Did WFP have to gain registrants to keep qualified? Or was this just a good chunk of voters voluntary registering without a petition/registration drive?
If a party has registration of at least .5%, then it never needs to worry about the vote test. So probably the WFP is having a registration drive to get to that level.
