Federal Election Commission Denies Exemption from Campaign Reporting to Tea Party Leadership Fund

On November 21, the Federal Election Commission voted 3-2 to deny an exemption to the Tea Party Leadership Fund. The group wanted to be exempt from revealing the names of individuals who donate, and had submitted 1,400 pages of evidence to show that when individuals are publicly identified as supporting the Tea Party, they are harassed. Thanks to Rick Hasen for the news.

  1. good news.

I think that the GOP establishment might follow the USAToday editorial board and selectively push for the use of top 2 primary as a way to get rid of their tea-party problem. In which case, I think FairVote’s top 4 primary is the best rejoinder…, since it’d actually do the sorts of things that top 2 primary claims it does!

  2. Hmmm. Have to add the magic world *Party* to get ANY protection from the usual suspect tyrant thugs ???

Thus – even more underground stuff in the DEGENERATE ANTI-Democracy U.S.A. minority rule gerrymander systems ???

    P.R. and nonpartisan App.V.

  3. The top two primary is just a way to get rid of the competition. There was a reason why the Republican party of Washington State took that top two law all the way to the US Supreme Court. State Republicans in Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona all opposed the top two primary. Those Montana Republicans are one of the few groups to not support the free market of idea’s in supporting the top two in 2014. The top two primary is just a bad idea and should be defeated.
