Low Turnout in 2014 Election Means that in Many States, it will be Easier to Qualify Initiatives

Because most states had unusually low turnout in the November 2014 election, and because most states that have the initiative process base the requirement on the number of votes cast in the last election, it seems that the number of signatures to qualify initiatives for the ballot in 2016 will be markedly easier than in the recent past. Thanks to Jill Pyeatt for this thought.

Low Turnout in 2014 Election Means that in Many States, it will be Easier to Qualify Initiatives — 9 Comments

  1. OUR UNITY COALITION CANDIDATES ARE WINNING ELECTIONS

    Our November 4th, 2014 Winners!

    California:
AD7 Kevin McCarty [Democratic] 58.6% WIN!
AD26 Devon Mathis [Republican] 55.6% WIN!
AD15 Tony Thurmond [Democratic] 54.4% WIN!
    AD=assembly district

    Our March 6th, 2012 Winner!

    Missouri:
Libertarian POTUS Primary James Ogle [Free Parliamentary] 52.7% WIN!
    POTUS=president of the united states

  2. James Ogle:

In this little parlor game you are playing, do you mean to tell us you were elected President of the United States?

  3. Be truthful now – McCarty, Mathis & Thurmond may have been James Ogle’s personal favorites (their campaign responded to an email from you?)but they certainly did not campaign as “Unity Coalition” candidates. Back in 2012, you indeed did win the Libertarian Party Primary for President but there was really no opposition. If I, say, had set up my own website as “Monarchist Party”, listed Barack Obama as my ticket, I could then claim him as a winner for my Monarchist party/coalition/team? Get real.

  4. Ha ha! No, I won the primary, which was the only Libertarian state primary which fell before the 2012 Libertarian national convention where I distributed more than 500 paper ballot for the 2012 9th USA Parliament Election.

The 9th USA Parliament has 661 consecutively ranked names and #1 is president and #2 is vice president of the parliament. Their roles are only as “initial contacts” for the majority coalition when the vote results are first announced in the cycle.

We also have a “Presidential Debate Committee” (PDC) of 47 POTUS candidates. But this is just for debates and for working with team players.

We’re candidate-friendly and we work well with large numbers of team players. We don’t play up to one candidate and we give equal time to all the candidates, unlike the other parties who are trying to force feed one person for president.

In the party boosses attempt to “grab the power” for US President they always manage to insult everyone with unfair treatment cycle after cycle. That’s one thing that our all-inclusive, pur American proportional representation (PR) system resolves, though on a microscopic scale, for 19 consecutive years/four POTUS election cycles.

Only the POTUS candidates themselves can vote new names to the PDC committee:

Call anytime you want to participate, since we have so few people working together, one person can really make a difference.

  5. McCarty, Mathis & Thurmond were on our United Coalition team simply because they accepted the nomination of their names due to interest in a unifying voting system.

They are currently linked with 500+ people through our interactive email lists too, although being linked isn’t a requirement.

In regards to your comments about my campaign in Missouri, I was covered in a story by the Missourian about my attempt to unite the Libertarians and Greens on one ticket by promoting Roseanne Barr as president and myself as vice president, spoke about the non-initiation of force and on being an outsider within my own political party.

People run for office to access free speech and considering Ferguson Missouri is in the news these days because of these very issues, the free speech access and accountability though elections is an important party of a democratic republic.

You may blow off the fact that I fulfilled the requirements for accessing the ballot – the same ballot that Gary Johnson was listed as a Republican.

The ballot access expert Richard Winger informed me that I had paid $1000. to access the ballot but he was incorrect. It was free. Others in the race also said they didn’t want to pay $1000. to be on the ballot but they had been misinformed too.

Winger also campaign against me and for his good friend Gary Johnson who bills himself as the “answer to the two-party system”.

Gary Johnson is on our PDC team, he did accept and so we look forward to his contributions for the good of the whole in the future. But so far he’s never answered an email or expressed any more interest in the United Coalition.

  6. Gene:

I thought Thurmond was dead! Is there still a campaign committee out there advocating for his election to President?

But on a serious note, even though I don’t fully understand James Ogle’s USParliament and how it functions, if he finds consolation in it and it gets his mind off the cares of the world, then I say, “more power to him.”

Meanwhile, I try to encourage my grandchildren to be prepared for what may be facing them 50 years from now. I’ll be gone on to my Reward, but I pray they do not have to be told when to get up each morning, what they will eat, and what they will do that day, along with the consequences if they fail to do so.

  7. Regardless of the above juvenile postings —

How many petitions to get P.R. and nonpartisan App.V. enacted —
to SAVE Democracy in the USA from the minority rule gerrymander robot party hacks in the gerrymander Congress and all 50 gerrymander State legislatures ???

  8. For starters – look at the very basic Nevada and the more complex Oregon Constitutions – both are somewhat 2 party States.

OR has a P.R. section from circa WW I [Progressive Era] — but not enforced by the party hacks.

ANY P.R. petition will get lots of attention from the gerrymander robot hacks and their hired guns – legal and non-legal (i.e. hired KILLERS – think drone strikes).
i.e. MAJOR danger for any proponents.

Option – Possible court cases to note pre-school stuff –
    1. UNEQUAL votes for each gerrymander area winner.
    2. UNEQUAL votes in each gerrymander area.
    3. 1/2 votes x 1/2 areas = 1/4 control = ANTI-Democracy.
i.e. possible NO petitions – get court relief to put TOTAL pressure on the hacks.
