Nebraska Bill to Eliminate Ability of U.S. House Districts to Elect Their Presidential Elector

Nebraska State Senator Beau McCoy (R-Omaha) has introduced LB 10. It would end the Nebraska practice of letting each U.S. House district elect its own presidential elector. In 2008, two of Nebraska’s congressional districts chose a Republican elector, but the 2nd district centered on Omaha chose a Democratic presidential elector. However, in 2012, all three districts chose Republican electors.

  1. Bad bill!!! All states should elect the electors 2 at large and the remainder per congressional district. Would result in a more representative electoral vote count. Nebraska now has the ideal – I sure hope they don’t abandon it!

  2. Both D and R gangster HQ in Devil City are giving COMMAND orders in the gerrymander State legislatures —

DO A-N-Y machination possible to WIN the 2016 Prez gerrymander election.

Watch Michigan – a Donkey Prez State — BUT Elephants control the Legislature — i.e. to have rigged U.S.A. Rep gerrymander districts for E.C. votes.

1/2 or less votes x 1/2 gerrymander areas = 1/4 or less control.

BOTH EVIL D/R gangs are trying to be the 1/4 faction.

  3. More importantly, the actual names of the presidential electors should be placed on the ballots instead of the hyped presidential nominees. We should be allowed to vote for these folks directly rather than as un-named slates that coattail to their corporate-sponsored party images. Also, the presidential electors should be the ones out actually campaigning rather than just holding an honorary position.

  4. Jeff –

Queries regarding each of the three sentences in your post:

    Why, why, and why?

    Thank you.

  5. More states need to do it the way that Nebraska does it already. It would provide for a more representative electoral college. Changing it to the way that most states do is a bad idea.

  6. And if they do presidential campaigns will focus exclusively on “battleground” congressional districts, and the temptation of electoral fraud in all its forms will be greater, and the likelihood of success of such fraud will be much greater.

Oh yeah – give me that!
