South Dakota Bill to Double Number of Signatures for an Initiative is Abandoned

South Dakota State Senator Corey Brown has decided to abandon his SB 166, which would have virtually doubled the number of signatures needed for a statewide initiative. See this story, which says that the legislature received many phone calls from people who were angry about the bill.

  1. Well, that’s interesting, for a while I thought that the people would have just let it happen as they’ve let lots of other authoritarian things happen in the last decade or so. Glad to see that I was wrong. Now maybe we could see a reaction like that in the 2016 elections, and get some Greens and Libertarians in Congress? That would be nice, albeit still unlikely at this point.
