First Party-Sanctioned Republican Party Presidential Debate to be Held August 15, 2015 in Cleveland

The Republican National Committee has determined that the first Republican presidential debate will be August 15 in Cleveland, Ohio.  Party rules say only nine debates will be permitted, to be held from August 2015 through March 2016.  Not yet determined is who will be invited into the August 2015 Cleveland debate.  There are 19 prominent Republicans who have set up exploratory committees to decide whether to run.  There are none who have actually declared, but it is expected that U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas will formally declare on March 23.

  1. Depends on your definition of “prominent.” According to Ron Gunzberger’s website, http://www.politics1.com/p2016.htm , there are 23 “prominent” Republicans exploring the presidency with Ben Carson and Lindsey Graham leading the declarations. Then there are another 47 lesser-knowns plus a Donald Trump thrown in for entertainment purposes. This is going to be fun to watch!

  2. Equal nominating petitions — to get SERIOUS candidates and NOT the more and more showboat MORONS / super Hacks.

  3. It’s sad that Donald Trump has allowed himself to no longer be accepted as a serious candidate for President. Like Rand Paul, Trump could catch the imagination of the voters if he hadn’t threatened to run so many times before, then withdraw.

Donald Trump tells it like it is. We need more candidates who will be different and don’t worry about offending anyone – especially if they deserved to be offended in the first place. Of course, I still stand behind my earlier prediction that Hillary Clinton will be elected, and the hundreds of millions being spent by all the “would-be” Presidents will be wasted – when it might have been spent wisely and elected another half dozen U.S.Senators.

The GOP is going to regret not attempting to win more GOP Senatorial seats in 2016.
