Louisiana State Court Rules that Voters Can’t be Registered in Two Parties Simultaneously

On August 14, a Louisiana state court rejected a lawsuit filed by a voter who wants to be registered as both a Democrat and as a Republican. He also wants to run for the legislature this year. See this story.

  1. Candidates should be allowed to be listed by more than one party, provided the parties are in agreement. I see no confusion as this judge has ruled. Apparently this candidate has already won the nomination of one party, and the other party did not have a nominee. If the latter party has no objection, then the candidate should be allowed to hold the spots of both parties.
