Bernie Sanders Campaign Official Says Sanders Will Soon Join the Democratic Party, But Then Retracts — 11 Comments

  1. Aaaand the fall of a once decent Independent is now likely complete. What a shame. Hopefully one of the two lawsuits against the Commission on Presidential Debates is successful, so people can see that they still have decent choices outside of the two corrupt ruling parties in 2016.

  2. While I would love to see more Independents in Congress as well as in our Legislatures, the Democratic Party is a Socialist party, so Bernie should feel as much at home in the Democratic Party as he would remaining an Independent.

  3. Gee Whiz — from official communist – socialist to official Donkey.

Whose mouth would start Civil WAR II the quickest —

leftwing Prez Sanders or rightwing Prez Trump ???

    Heaven help the USA.
Abolish the super timebomb Electoral College NOW.
    Ring ALL alarm bells possible.
    Sound political General Quarters –
all hands on deck to make a SUPER emergency constitutional amendment.
    This is NO drill.

    P.R. and nonpartisan App.V.

  4. AI –

You need a primer on socialism if you think the Democratic Party is “socialist.”

But fair enough. Let’s let unfettered capitalism continue to run its logical course. We’re about 2/3 of the way back to the jolly late nineteenth century when everyone was fat and happy.

Well…filthy rich people are fat and happy, anyway.

  5. And you need a lesson on capitalism if you think that is what we have now. There hasn’t been “unfettered capitalism” since 1913.

  6. The article has apparently been corrected, and says that Sanders intends to file with the Democratic Party in New Hampshire, while noting that Vermont does not have party registration.

  7. Percents of the reported Production / Business Sector —
    2015Q2 — 27 Aug 2015

26.4 Govt IN (i.e. mostly taxes)
    33.6 Govt OUT — Welfare 13.7 — Business 19.9)
-7.1 Deficit — adding to the various govt debts.

About 20 percent of the economy is *imputed* – Fictional — such as the alleged imputed rents of owner occupied housing units.
Thus percentages are about 20-25 percent higher in the REAL money economy.

In 1929 the IN and OUT percentages were both about 10 (repeat 10) percent.
Thus the giant STATISM since 1929. It shows – dead cities, urban sprawl, pollution, etc.

  8. Chris –

So, in other words, the income tax is an unreasonable, and socialistic, constraint to put on capitalism.

It all comes down to the wallet, doesn’t it?

  9. Chris –

Incidentally – read more carefully. I said “2/3” of the way back to unfettered capitalism. And, as I think about it, that was a conservative estimate.

But that’s what conservatism leads to, I guess. Bad math.

  10. I don’t really see how this is significant. Sanders has been kind of a de facto Democrat for decades.
