  1. How many Canadiens overseas having ANY right to vote ???

Hope for TOTAL gridlock in the rotted Canada House of Commons — to get then —

    P.R. and nonpartisan App.V.

    OR
get ready for more frozen States in the U.S.A.
    OR
even a total breakup of the USA and Canada into multiple nations.

  2. In Canada, the federal government conducts federal elections, while provincial governments conduct provincial elections. There is separate registration for each.

A federal election is only every few years, and voters vote for only a single office. The ballot for voting by mail is blank, and the inner envelope is a white envelope. Voters write in the name of their favored candidate. Canada does not permit write-in votes, they simply don’t customize the mail ballots. In addition the name of a political party is not a valid vote.

The list of candidates is available by September 30 (2 days after the filing deadline). Elections Canada suggests that voters might check with local news sources or their favored political party, to get the name of potential candidates prior to that.

Canada permits international voters to vote for 5 years after they no longer reside in the country (exceptions exist for government employees, international organization employees, and Canadian Forces).

The 5 year limit was overturned by a lower court, but that decision was reversed upon appeal. The case is probably still brewing.

Canadian Forces may vote at polling places where they are posted. They get ballots for their riding.
