Group in California Says it will Try to Qualify the “Trump Party” for the Ballot

Steve Grantham of San Diego has announced plans to create a “Trump Party” and get it on the ballot. The article seems to say the goal is to get it on the ballot in 2018. However, it is not too late for it to qualify for 2016. The deadline is July 11, 2016. A party that qualifies by that deadline can be on for President but not other office. See this story. Group in California Says it will Try to Qualify the “Trump Party” for the Ballot — 12 Comments

  1. I believe this is an “April Fools” gag… not wildly funny, but yeah…

  2. How come there is no link on the site to the USA Today article in which Ballot Access News was mentioned as the authority on independent and third party presidential campaigns? Did I miss it? Or are you too modest?

  3. Yes, I am sometimes modest. But thanks for finding it.

As to the earlier comments, I don’t think it is an April Fool’s Day matter at all. If the Trump Party shows up on the California Secretary of State’s web page, in the list of political bodies, we will know for sure that it is not April-Fool-related.

  4. Richard, if you click through to their “platform” document, it sort of gives the joke up. Wishing a Happy April 1.

  5. The three-page platform in its entirety:

    /==================================\
    page 1:
    ——
    The Trump Party

    “Make America Great Again”

    page 2:
    ——
    Preamble

The Trump Party will strive to make America great again.

(Additional platform details on the following pages)

    page 3:
    ——
    Platform

The Trump Party will strive to make America great again. We don’t have all the details on every aspect of how that will be accomplished.

But, we have the best minds working on it. Good people. Great people. No losers, only winners. It will be huge.

Until then, have a great April 1.

  6. Actually, this reminds me of the classic short story by Thomas M. Disch, “Pyramids for Minnesota: A Serious Proposal”. In the intro to the story for his anthology _The New Improved Sun_, Disch agreed that it was a joke — but, he added, “a perfectly serious joke”.

  7. If the eccentric and sometimes bombastic New Yorker ran on a ticket with the governor of California as the Democratic Party nominees, would the national nominee of the party have to run as a write-in? Bully!, I say.

  8. They don’t need a Trump Party, they already have the American Independent Party line if they need it

  9. What’s next —

The Trump for Absolute Monarch / Emperor Party ???

See the ROT of the Roman Republic from 120 BC to 27 BC —
almost nonstop civil wars, monarchs and oligarchs-
    — producing the KILLER Emperors from 27 BC to 476 AD —
about 500 years of madmen KILLERS in charge.
