On August 5, independent presidential candidate Rocky De La Fuente asked the Maryland State Board of Elections to extend the petition deadline for independent candidates from August 1 to August 23. The rationale is that the Board changed the number of signatures from 40,603 to 10,000 on July 29, 2016. But this change was no help to any independent candidate this year, because it came so late.
The Maryland deadline ought to be extended to sometime in September.
This guy is fascinating. His New York State petition apparently doesn’t have a party label. I wonder why.

Well, he’s formed something called the Delta Party. And he’s going for the Reform Party’s nomination. And he was a primary candidate for the Democratic Party’s nomination. So maybe he just couldn’t decide what label to use in New York.
According to FEC records De La Fuente has debt/loans of around 6.4 million dollars. That’s crazy he’s spending so much on his campaign.

My calculation is that he spend $95.50 per vote he received in the Democratic presidential primaries.
IIRC, Darcy Richardson spent about 16 cents per vote in the Democratic primaries in 2012 — and in the five states where he ran in 2012 and Fuente ran in 2016, Richardson got more votes than Fuente did.
