  1. Actually good news for Trump. They aren’t supporting Hillary. Meaning Obama got 97% while Romney got 3%. However if Trump only gets 2% and others get 13%. It’s a win for Trump.

  2. Eh, if you read the article you’d see Clinton is garnering in average 80% of support among African Americans. That Johson and Stein are polling 5% or less of the African American votes. And Donald Trump is polling even less than that among African Americans.

  3. What are you guys talking about? It’s not good news for Trump and the article says Clinton is getting 86% (5% Stein, 4% Johnson, 2% Trump.)

Normal for a Republican candidate is the 88% Kerry – 11% Bush in 2004 or 90% Gore – 9% Bush in 2000. So Clinton is 3% below 2000/04 and Trump is 8% below.

But the fact that Trump is even below the 95% Obama – 4% McCain and 93% Obama – 6% Romney elections is impressively bad.

  4. Jim – your math is wrong, Another person is right. Let’s say there are one million voters. 95% Obama vs 4% McCain means means the Obama margin over McCain is 910,000 votes. In this poll, Clinton 86% vs Trump 2% means the Clinton margin over Trump is 840,000 votes. That’s significant, and a net positive for Trump. However, I suspect, as with the general voting population, blacks will go home to the Democrat Party on election day, so what the polls say today is irrelevant.

  5. Don – I was looking at the more normal distribution of 2000-04, 89% – 10%, not the unusual distribution of 94% – 5% during the Obama elections. Trump isn’t running against the first black presidential candidate. Using your numbers, “normal” has the Democrat up 790,000 votes and Trump is down by 840,000.
