I assume you’d be equally happy if there were faithless electors on the Trump side?

  2. It seems to me that if Johnson can win enough electoral votes to deadlock the electoral college, his electors should propose to the Democrats and Republicans that they would consider voting for their candidates if either of them replaced Trump or Clinton.

  3. One more reason to ABOLISH the EVIL ROTTED Electoral College — merely nonstop subversion of the will of the voters — which means ZERO to the top robot party hacks and the special interest gangsters.

  4. If they can toss it into the Republican congress to decide, then yes. They could select someone other than Donald or Hillary.

  5. Something bizarre’s afoot this election season. McMullin is in the margin of error to flip Utah. Johnson may flip New Mexico. Bernie or Bust may attempt to flip Vermont to Sanders.

  6. This year we may get to see the very best reason to embrace the Electoral College: we need a firewall to prevent the election of individuals unfit to hold the office of President of the United States.

Neither Clinton nor Trump should be allowed in the White House – even as tourists. The Electoral College holds the last cards to stop an unfit candidate. Depending on the outcome in November, it will take only a small group of them to prevent a candidate from reaching 270 Electoral Votes, thereby throwing the elction to the House of Representatives.

Neither Trump nor Clinton should be allowed anywhere near the White House.

Please God, let us all hope the the Electoral College does their real duty and rejects both of them.

  7. He should give his electoral vote to Jill Stein .It’s Washington state after all .Their are different Socialist party’s branches in Washington state .The national headquarters of the freedom Socialist party is in Seattle .Maybe voters in Washington should help a Socialist candidate win Washington state .

  8. The USA House of Reps is 100 percent full of ROBOT PARTY gerrymander HACKS from Hell — since 1788.

1/2 or less votes x 1/2 gerrymander districts = 1/4 or less CONTROL indirectly.

I.E. about the same ROTTED EVIL math as in the Electoral College.

The Reps math was much worse before the 1964 SCOTUS gerrymander case.

  9. @Wake Up:

You may be right. In this election, the Electoral College may actually serve a useful purpose, if it can block the election of both Clinton and Trump.

  10. Under the 12th and 20th Amendments, the House can only choose from the top three finishers in Electoral College votes for President. The Senate only gets to choose a VP from the top two EC finishers for that office. And if they don’t choose by Inauguration Day, we get into the Presidential Succession Act and the 25th Amendment and all that. . . .

Overall, it’s unlikely that anyone but the top three EC finishers for President and the top two for VP could be elected President. OTOH, this year of all years, we are reminded of that wise saying from ESPN 8 “The Ocho”: “Do you believe in unlikelihoods?”
