  1. How about those BAD spelling voters ??? See the INFAMOUS AK US Senate mess in 2010 — Murkowski, Mircowski,, Mircowsky, etc. etc

    Note again 14th Amdt, Sec. 2 — How many write-in votes in 1866 and 1868 ???

How many States REQUIRE that a box/oval be filled in AND the name of the write-in candidate ???

  2. Jill Stein is one of the 15 write-in candidates in Indiana. She’s likely to get some thousands of votes despite that because of how skilled some of the former Bernie Sanders supporters are at spreading the word on Facebook.

  3. The Microvote VP-1 used in Delaware County has an LCD display with two column of buttons, one on each side of the screen. You vote for a candidate by pressing the button next to his name. It appears that the ballot is set up for two columns of races.

To cast a write-in vote, you press the button next to “Write-in”. You will get a new screen, and the Buttons will correspond to the letters of the alpahbet. You spell it out by pressing the buttons in the name. R I C H A R D W I N G E R.

One advantage of the use of DRE’s is that write-ins are captured in digital format. In 2006, when Tom DeLay withdrew, the replacement write-in candidate was Shelley Sekula-Gibbs. Her campaign literature omitted the hyphen, since there was no way to enter a hyphen on the voting machines. It was not permitted to program the voting machines to recognize names, but once a particular spelling was accepted, all ballots with identical spellings could be counted.

In one county, Kelly Segula Gibbs, Snelly Gibbr, Schikulla Gibbs, Sheila Gibbs, Shelly Schulla Gibbs, Shelly Gibkula, ShelleySkulaGibbsssss, Sektula, Sukla, Sequila, Sedoko, Sedoka, Meklua, Sekluda, and Shecola were accepted.
