  1. Jessica Abbott, the 27-year old vice-chair of the Tidewater LP, defeated an incumbent by nearly 20 points for a Virginia Beach city council seat. It was a non-partisan race but it was no secret what her affiliation was. I will say it was sad to see Virginia only have three LP candidates this year though (two for city council, one write-in for Congress).
