This useful Associated Press story mentions the state legislative chambers in which the majority switched from one major party to the other major party. The article did not explicitly mention states in which the Governor’s office switched. Probably the most significant gubernatorial switch is the North Carolina governor’s seat, which switched from Republican to Democratic.

  1. Alaska has elected a Republican majority, however three Republican legislators have defected to the Bipartisan “Muskox Coalition” and will be the majority caucus, dethroning Speaker of the House, Mike Chenault.

  2. The reference to the NC gubernatorial race is premature. There are far more provisional ballots than is the difference between the Democratic And Republican candidates, so it won’t be decided until those votes are counted on November 18. Notice that the Libertarian candidate, Lon Cecil, had balance-of-power status in the race. http://tinyurl.com/pc8knu5
