The Iowa bill to abolish the straight-ticket device, SF 60, did not make any headway this year, and it has now missed the deadline for bill to have passed their first committee.

Only the stand alone bill to end straight tickets is dead. However, all the content of that bill has been amended into the secretary of state’s bill HF516. This is the voter ID bill which is a top Republican priority. There’s also a proposed Democratic amendment that would have the effect of keeping straight ticket as an option.
Thank you very much.
