Four-Party Debate Set in Utah Special Congressional Election

On October 13, a debate will be held for the special U.S. House election, 3rd district. Participating are the nominees of the Republican, Democratiac, Libertarian, and United Utah Parties. The debate will be in a school auditorium in Sandy and will be televised. See here for more details. The four invited debates are John Curtis, Kathie Allen, Joe Buchman, and Jim Bennett.

  1. Yeah, I just wish it would at least also have the Independent American and the independent, but better than just the two main parties, I guess.

  2. This is definitely a step in the right direction. Also, if more state and congressional elections start featuring three, four, or more candidates, the CPD will look even more biased and foolish by comparison. Here in the IL-12th Congressional District for instance, the sponsors of the main Congressional Debates (usually several of the area’s news media organizations and colleges) have included our district’s Green candidate for the past three elections. Last year they even fought against the incumbent Bost to have her included, which resulted in only one debate, but a debate in which all three of the district’s candidates were included.
