Brisson is a very conservative Democrat, who voted for the Republican redistricting bills, perhaps because they preserved his district. The last four elections he has won with either 52% or 53% of the vote. In 2012 and 2016 his win was in the Democratic primary. In 2010 and 2014 it was against a Republican in the general election.
